Have you ever wanted to start a blog, but have no idea where to start?
When I first started, my little blog was on blogger, which is really easy to use. But I realized that if I wanted my site to look professional and wanted to monetize my blog that I would need to switch over to a self hosted site.
That is why I started The Blog Shop!
When I first switched, it was very time-consuming and slightly frustrating, mostly because I had no idea what I was doing! I am sharing some of my favorite resources here, but I am also offering a service to help you get set-up and teach you how to use your new blog!
First of all you need a web host. I can recommend two hosting companies!
I can personally recommend Siteground, and let me tell you why. Their customer service is phenomenal. They switched my site over from blogger, and even when there were some glitches in the process, they found a way to get it done. I was afraid they were going to tell me that I would have to do it all myself, but they took care of everything. Needless to say, they won me over immediately. They have plans that start as low as $3.95 per month.
I can also personally recommend Bluehost. Bluehost also has great customer service. The process of getting started is very simple and their packages are a little more comprehensive than SiteGround’s. They have packages starting at $3.95 per month and you can keep the low rate for 36 months when you pay up front.
Learn from other bloggers!
One of my favorite blogging resources is Crystal Paine’s, Your Blogging Mentor. She has useful, affordable courses that deliver what they advertise. I highly recommend starting with her course Blog Start Up 101 . It is $37 to enroll, and will walk you through starting up your blog. You can even download a copy of the syllabus before you purchase so you know what you are getting!
To see all of the courses check out her Blogging University. I have taken several of her courses and have leaned so much from her!
Once you have your site up and running, if you are hoping to monetize your site, you need to get signed up to promote affiliate links!
Here are some of my favorites, and they have advertisers who will work with new bloggers!
Amazon Affiliates –You can pretty much link to any product on Amazon and get a small commission when someone makes a purchase that coms from your links.
You can also email me with questions!
Leslie’s Little Corner is affiliated with all of the links referenced above. If you click on the links and make a purchase we will receive a small commission. However, we want you to know that we only suggest brands and companies that we have used and trust. See the disclosure policy for details.
